Prepare 4 shots of espresso coffee (unsweetened), add some water if necessary, and let cool down in a deep plate or small bowl.
In the meantime, whisk together eggs and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Add the melted and cooled butter, the milk and the sifted flour. Whisk until smooth and without lumps. Add the yeast and mix well.
Pour about half of the cake batter in a 11x8 pan or a baking pan of equivalent size.
Quickly dip the 2/3 of the Amaretti (Macaroons) in the coffee and lay them down in a single layer.
Add two tablespoons of coffee to the the remaining batter and transfer in the pan to form a second layer.
Cover the top layer with the remaining crumbled Amaretti.
Transfer in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes at 340F.
When ready, remove form the oven and let cool down before serving.
The best results can be obtained using espresso coffee but a strong regular homemade coffee can give you great results. Put a cup of water in the drip coffee machine with 3-4 spoons of coffee.
